DigiDecom-Training was also initiated in 2017 with two IAEA training courses held in 2017 and 2018. The initiative continues with various types of training events planned for 2020 and later year.
The DigiDecom-Training series aims at providing a comprehensive training curriculum, streamlined for different professions, in a more engaging and effective training experience with longer retention rates through complementing international coordinated efforts into training for decommissioning with digitally enhanced interactive modules.
The DigiDecom-Training series focuses on teaching about how to take advantage of exciting key technologies like virtual & mixed reality, robotics, AI and other modern technologies for safe and efficient disposal of our nuclear heritage. Participants of trainings learn about current practices and lessons learned, new methods based for application of digitalization, robotics, machine learning and AI. DigiDecom-Training uses VR immersive, serious gaming & simulation-based storytelling, augmented reality and digital twin technologies for enhancing trainee engagement and knowledge retention. Hands on group exercises and friendly competitions designed based on examples from real-life projects have a very strong weight in the DigiDecom trainings events.
Main current partner organisations for the DigiDecom-Training events are:
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
iUS Institut für Umwelttechnologien und Strahlenschutz GmbH (iUS), Germany
Actimondo, Germany
Other partners include: Argonne National Laboratory – US, Florida International University (FIU) – US, Sogin – Italy, Apollo plus – Switzerland, VISAVI and Catenda – Norway, Createc – UK, ÅF – Sweden, NND – Norway.
